Don Kinney, New Council Scout Executive

ROCKFORD–December 1, 2003

Blackhawk Area Council is proud to announce the hiring of Donald Kinney as the Council Scout Executive, beginning December 1, 2003.

Don comes to Blackhawk Area Council from Wood River, Illinois, where he has been serving as Scout Executive for the Trails West Council since 1995.

Don has been a professional for the Boy Scouts of America since 1972 when he began his career in the Thatcher Woods Council in Oak Park, Illinois.

Since that time he has been associated with councils in Oak Park, Illinois; Davenport, Iowa; Menasha, Wisconsin; and Wood River. He has served as a district executive, Exploring executive, field director, finance director, director of support services, and council Scout executive in Wood River.

Born and raised in Galesburg, Illinois, Don comes from a strong Scouting family. A Life Scout himself and recipient of the Lutheran Church Award, Don's parents were both volunteers and worked for BSA as a professional Scouter and council registrar.

Don and his wife Judy are parents of three daughters. They are both active in the community and their church. We welcome them both to Blackhawk Area Council.
