Scout Center Flooded - 2007

Monday night, August 6, a heavy downpour resulted in the flooding of the council service center, just like last Labor Day. The council service center in Rockford as well as the surrounding neighborhoods flooded again after major storms on the night of Monday, August 6. Water levels exceed that of last year's Labor Day flood. Phones are attended, but the Scout Shop was closed for the week.

Keith Creek, right behind our office, overflowed into our entire neighborhood making life very hard for our neighbors. Thirteen homes (so far) have been condemned by the city.

The extensive damage to our building is being repaired. Cardboard boxes full of supplies and equipment are stacked everywhere. But as of August 13 we are functioning again.

We owe a great deal of gratitude to our list of volunteers that pitched in, got muddy, and made it possible to reopen the Scout Center. Well done folks.
