| 1990 | Camp Lowden celebrates its 50th anniversary. |

| 1986 | Canyon Camp celebrates its 50th anniversary. |

| 1971 | U.S. Grant Council and Blackhawk Area Council merge, retaining the name "Blackhawk Area Council." This brought our council to its present boundaries. |

| 1961 | The Council Service Center is dedicated in Rockford at 1800 7th Avenue. |

| The 1940's | |
| 1943 | Cub Scouting, for younger boys, is launched as a new program. |
| 1940 | Camp Lowden is dedicated as Blackhawk Area Council’s camp. |
| The 1930's | |
| 1936 | Canyon Camp is dedicated as U.S. Grant Council’s camp. |
| 1936 | LaFayette and Green counties transfer from the Stateline Council (Beloit) into U.S. Grant Council. |
| 1934 | McHenry County is added to Blackhawk Area Council. |
| The 1920's | |
| 1928 | Whiteside County is added to Blackhawk Area Council. |
| 1928 | U.S. Grant Council merges with Freeport Council (Second Class), retaining the name U.S. Grant Council, covering Jo Daviess, Carroll, Stephenson, and Grant counties, with an office in Freeport. |
| 1927 | Stockton area charters as the First Class U.S. Grant Council, covering primarily Jo Daviess and Carroll counties. |
| 1927 | Rockford Council and Blackhawk Council merge to form Blackhawk Area Council, covering four counties. |
| 1925 | Dixon area charters as the First Class Blackhawk Council, covering primarily Ogle and Lee counties. |
| 1924 | Rockford charters as the First Class Rockford Council (with an office and a Scout Executive), covering primarily Winnebago and Boone counties. |
| 1921 | Rockford organizes as a Second Class Council. |
| The 1910's | |
| 1912 | Freeport organizes as a Second Class Council. (No office and no professional staff.) |
| 1910 | The Boy Scouts of America was incorporated and begins chartering Boy Scout Troops directly from the national council, all across the country. Troops began forming in the counties that would become Blackhawk Area Council. |
