Scout Day - Winnebago County Forest Preserve District

Winnebago County Forest Preserve-Scout Day, Saturday, August 19

 

The Forest Preserves of Winnebago County has teamed up with the Blackhawk Area Council to bring you Scout Day! Scouts will Nurture Nature at the R.E.A.P. Day (Restoration, Education, Appreciation, & Preservation) on Saturday, August 19th @ Severson Dells Forest Preserve. The location is 8502 Montague Road, Rockford, IL, at the Prairie Knoll Shelterhouse.

 

Scouts and Scouters can Volunteer (9AM-11AM), participate in a Guided Creek Study (11AM-12N), and complete requirements for Cub Scout Adventures, or earn the Nature or Geocaching Merit Badge (12N-3PM)!

 

VOLUNTEER Information:

Each Pack/Troop who registers 10 volunteers (for a total of 30 service hours) will earn a $100 gift card to use toward FPWC fees such as camping, boating, or shelter rental. You may sign up as a Pack, Troop, or Individual Family. Each individual participant (adult and youth) in the group is required to register separately and complete the online waiver.

Boy Scout Activities:

Boy Scouts of all ranks can complete requirements for knot tying, Outdoor Code and Leave No Trace principles, or earn the Nature or Geocaching merit badge.

Nature Merit Badge Prerequisites: Complete the requirements for 4.a. Birds or 4.e. Fish

Geocaching Merit Badge: Requirement 9 -Plan a geohunt for a group, must be completed after the session.

Cub Scout Activities:

Cub Scouts will complete adventures related to hiking, Outdoor Code, plant and animal identification.
