Venturing Program

Young men and women 14-20 years old (or 13 and have completed eighth grade)

All teens have one—a moment that opens their eyes to a world that’s bigger than they ever imagined. It might happen while paddling a quiet lake, bonding with new friends around a bonfire, or rising to the challenge of leading an exhausted crew to the edges of adventure. Venturing gives young men and women access to a range of programs and empowers them to create their own experiences. It brings Scouting values to life through both high adventure outdoor activities and challenging real-world projects. The program helps young people mature, build leadership skills, grow by teaching others, and pursue their own unique interests.

It’s time to register for Blackhawk Area Council’s Venturing Blast set for Friday-Sunday, Feb. 23-25, at Camp Lowden near Oregon, IL. It is open to ages 14 and older in all Scout units as well as non-Scouts.

Planned events include fat-tire bikes, pistol shooting, climbing, archery, crate stacking, tomahawk and knife throwing, astronomy, snow shoeing and much more! Other activities include evening social/dance, night hike and evening cracker barrel! Activities are subject to change based on weather.

Participants will sleep in heated cabins, so there’s no need to bring a tent! Register early to sleep in Boeger Lodge—space is first come, first served!

Cost is $30 per person before Feb. 18 and $35 afterward. For more information, email Heather Lisser at HLisser@yahoo.com
