The Council Pays For Youth Accident Insurance

The Blackhawk Area Council is pleased to announce that it will be providing to all units Accident Insurance coverage for all the your youth. This is being provided through your unit’s support of the Family Friends of Scouting funding campaign.

This accident insurance will be in effect from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2013.

The accident insurance is through Health Special Risk, Inc. Your unit will not need to renew its policy with Health Special Risk at your unit’s recharter period.

The accident insurance will cover the youth in every Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop, Varsity Team, Venturing Crew, and Explorer Post.

Note: This does not cover adult leaders. If your unit wants the accident insurance for its adults, the unit will need to purchase the accident insurance from Health Special Risk, Inc.

Excess Insurance Plan

The insurance plan is an Excess Insurance Plan meaning that the Plan will pay all those eligible expenses incurred from a covered accident not paid by any other collectible insurance or pre-paid health plan in-force for you or a dependent child. If no other collectible insurance or pre-paid health plans are in effect at the time of the loss, this plan will pay all eligible covered expenses up to the plan limits. There is no deductible under this plan.

Program Planning Packet

The files and resources you need for planning out your next years Pack & Troop activities, budget training and FUN!

Planning Packets

Dear Unit Leader,

Planning for next year’s unit program is one of the most important steps a pack, troop, or crew must do to insure a fun and active program that will attract and hold youth members and parents. To accomplish this, the annual unit program planning conference should take place during the summer. During this conference, unit leaders and parents will outline a program plan for the coming year. The finalized plan is shared with all Scouts and parents by late August.

Leaders should remember that their prime objective is to deliver a high-quality program to each youth member. A well-rounded year-long program should contain activities that meet the needs and desires of each youth member, and allows all leaders to use those methods which will help achieve the aims and purposes of the Scouting program.

Included on this disc are the tools to help you and the unit committee plan a successful program for your unit. Planning provides direction for the program, a sense of satisfaction for those participating, and a feeling of accomplishment in seeing youth grow in knowledge, skills, and expanded interests. Planning also helps make the best use of time and the resources available.

If your unit needs assistance or has questions concerning the program planning process, please contact your unit commissioner, district commissioner, or district executive.
